Summer 2019 Cocktails

Summer 2019 Cocktails

Spirited Drinks for those Warmer Months

What’s your go-to summer cocktail?

Summer 2019 cocktails should be refreshing and fun. For some, the mix of alcohol and the sun can be a bit too much.  However, your guests may still like the idea of a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail).
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
(F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby)

Some of our favorites include the Virgin Watermelon Margarita, a Shirley Ginger (grown-up take on the classic Shirley Temple) or a Lavender Lemonade.  Sophisticate and refreshing for those hot, summer months.

Often, these recipes can have several ingredients – and several steps.  You may wish to consider creating big batches. Non-alcoholic big batches can be used both as-is or as part of a more spirited drink.  Many venues prefer having some batches on hand; it helps during high-traffic times and ensures a drink always tastes just right.  What’s on your cocktail menu this summer?

Along with seasonal food and cocktail recipes, this is an ideal time to take a look at your venue. Happy with your current linen provider? Interested in a new take on your linens? Considering adding a pop of color? Or simply in need of some additional party linen rentals?  Bergen Linen is here for you. Call (800) 789-8115 or email info@bergenlinen.com. A team member would be happy to answer all your questions and concerns. No commitment!

Meal Measurements Made Easy

Meal Measurements Made Easy

Bergen Linen Food & Beverage Industry Tip!

Bergen Linen services the Food & Beverage Industry so it is important to keep you updated on industry news!

The Food & Beverage Industry has found a way – meal measurements made easy!  Over the last few years, there has been more and more discussions regarding restaurant portion control.  In the past, this technique has been geared towards franchise establishments.  However, the more you look at your food cost, waste and other factors – portion control makes a lot of sense.  When a plate leaves your kitchen, it is important that the recipe (and portion) remains consistent for both you and your customer.

Good for You…and Good for them

When you create portion-controlled dishes, your kitchen will run more efficiently and economically.  (As your area’s trusted local linen provider, we think it’s important to keep on top of the latest F & B news.)

Bonus: Your customers can trust that they will be served that same great tasting meal each time they visit. (And each meal served will look the same as well.)

Your menu items can then also have a known food cost due to the exact serving sizes.  This will help your kitchen team track ingredients and how much is being used.  Presumably, your venue will also see a reduction in food waste.  With more controlled (and healthy) portions, there is less food to throw away.

Keeping meals under control is easier than you may believe:

 • Train staff with the correct serving sizes
 • Create breakdown charts for each dish
 • Consider investing in scales, molds and other measuring tools

Managing customer expectations and providing consistent meals is easy and attainable with a few adjustments.  And so worth it.  In the beginning, measuring tools are suggested.  Before long, you and your team will be portioning by sight.

Bergen Linen understands the needs of the Food and Beverage Industry.  While we may not be able to assist you in all areas, we are certainly here to help!  Keep your business running smoothly by trusting local vendors who truly care.

In Memory of Mrs. Marie-Louise Hallak

In Memory of Mrs. Marie-Louise Hallak

It is with deep sorrow that the Bergen Linen and Hallak Cleaners family shares with you the passing of our matriarch, Mrs. Marie-Louise (Dartley) Hallak.  She was a woman of great compassion and class – and always fashionable.

John-Claude Hallak, Marie-Louise Hallak and Joseph Hallak, Jr. (Left to right)

Throughout the years, some customers may recall reading Hallak Cleaners’ newsletter articles regarding Mrs. Hallak’s contributions to the dry-cleaning industry.  Over fifty years ago, she and her husband, Mr. Joseph Hallak, Sr. started what would become their legacy – Hallak Cleaners.  While fashion and technology inevitably changed, Mrs. Hallak remained a vibrant and intricate part of the Hallak team.  She served as the company’s CFO up until her retirement.  At one time, Louise (the name by which she went) served a term as the President of the International Dry Cleaners Congress.

With love in our heart, Mrs. Hallak’s spirit and memory will always remain. Along with pictures (and awards) throughout our facility, there is also a map which seems to reflect her life quite well – scattered with pushpins indicating her many pleasure and business trips over the span of decades. For us, those pushpins represent happy memories, achievements, old friends, new friends and family. While the Hallak family now has an inescapable void – we find comfort knowing that Louise lived a full, beautiful and meaningful life, surrounded always by family and dear friends – to the very end.

You are welcome to learn more about Mrs. Hallak and her service arrangements.   Over the next few days, Hallak and Bergen Linen will be staggering employees’ shifts to allow them the opportunity to pay their respects.  Both companies will remain open with normal hours – but please be patient with our reduced staff for the next couple of days.

May 2019 Birthday Celebrations

May 2019 Birthday Celebrations

Let’s celebrate the right way!

There is still time to celebrate that May 2019 Birthday – and future summer events!  Let’s start planning today.

With the warmer weather here, you may opt for an outdoor space. However, you should always have a back-up plan or some sort of outdoor structure.  Our area’s weather fluctuates so much that you never truly know what the day will hold.  Fortunately, there are plenty of options including tents with sides and ventilation  options as well. (Don’t forget about the floor. Rain-soaked grass is not a welcomed party ‘guest’.)

If you are planning a smaller gathering, you may consider firing up your grill. There are so many wonderful buffet and food station ideas that can be done all in the comfort of your own backyard. Looking for a little inspiration?

Planning something a bit larger? Catering is certainly a viable option!  You can still create a delicious buffet or create a more formal event with wait service.

Whether casual or more elegant, table linens are a great addition to any party. They can dress up a well-loved backyard table or buffet station. They can pull together an event’s color scheme.  Bergen Linen provides linen rentals such as tablecloths, napkins, overlays, runners, table skirts, chair covers, sashes and more!
